Lonely Springs Creek Floodway

Downstream scour repair works due to recent flooding of the Buntine Highway

The project

Located on the Buntine Highway, the culverts at the Lonely Springs Creek suffered significant flood damage washing away down stream rock protection and starting to underme the concrete culverts. 

Advance Civil Engineering were engaged to reinstate the down stream protection work at the culverts. 

Working in such a remote part of the Northern Territory comes with a number of logistical issues which were overcome by the management and planning of our team.

Scope of works includes:
  • Supply and install rock filled reno matresses downstream of the culverts to the creek bed.
  • 1 to 3 ton dumped rock was sourced from existing stockpile and used to protect the sides of the stream batters downstream of the culverts. 
  • Undermined concrete batters were underpinned by stabilised sand.
